The Benefits of Solidor Doors

Slimline aluminium doors from Manchester Window Factory offer several advantages over other types of doors, including

Why Choose a Solidor Composite Door from Manchester Window Factory?

Featuring the thickest core and a highly durable ABS skin, Solidor doors from Manchester Window Factory can help you to maximise your energy efficiency and secure your home in style for many years to come.

Styles & Colours

Solidor doors offer a range of styles and colours so you can create a door as individual as you are. From the large glazed panel of the Beeston to Conway’s half-sun-shaped top window, you can choose your glazing to frame ratio. Some designs, such as the Tenby and the Thornbury don’t incorporate any glazing, allowing the timber frame to shine.

That’s not all, you can also choose from 18 fantastic tones, ranging from French Grey and Irish Oak to Ruby Red and Green. Traditional homes would suit a Rosewood, Walnut or Golden Oak. If you’re looking for a burst of colour, then Peacock Blue or Tangerine fits the bill perfectly.

A Wide Range of Accessories

The customisation doesn’t stop there. We also have a variety of handles, hinges and door knockers available. From sleek and simple chrome to ornate ironmongery, you choose the finishing touches to complete the look. You can go for gold, white, black or brushed and choose chunky, slender and elegant, or have some fun with a regal lion door knocker.

Whatever look you have in mind for your home, we can help you create the perfect first impression with a customised Solidor door.

Solidor Doors Security & Peace of Mind

Every Solidor door has achieved the PAS 24:2016 enhanced security performance requirements for UK doors and windows. Solidor composite doors feature the Avantis lock, a big and strong multipoint locking system to stop potential intruders at the first hurdle.

As with all our doors, you can opt for laminated glass and Ultion door barrels are fitted as standard for extra peace of mind.

Solid Timber Frames

Solidor Composite doors boast a slab thickness of 48 mm, almost 10% thicker than the majority of competitor products. The solid timber outer frames offer a 100% recycled thermally-efficient reinforcing system and a Kommerling 5-chamber lead-free profile.

Each Solidor composite door features a solid timber core encased within durable plastic banding and two thermo-plastic door skins. This gives the doors a high level of durability and weather resistance that negates the need for painting or varnishing in the foreseeable future.

Solidor Doors FAQ's

What Manchester Window Factory doesn’t know about doors isn’t worth knowing, so if your question isn’t answered below, our family-run business is here to help.

A standard composite door will offer a durable and weather-resistant Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) ‘skin’ to keep out draughts and rainfall. It will also have a highly insulated core to reduce heat loss and reduce your heating bills. Last but not least, your composite door will be highly secure, no matter the manufacturer.

Where a Solidor comes into its own is in thickness and durability. A Solidor composite door is 10% thicker than the average, thanks to its 48mm thickness. This not only improves insulation and weather resistance but also makes the door much more scratch and mark-resistant. Instead of a GRP skin, Solidor doors have an ABS skin. ABS is the same plastic as Lego, so it’s incredibly hard-wearing.

Solidor also offers more style and colour options, plus an even higher level of security than its competitors.

Absolutely, Solidor doors have been manufactured in the UK since the company was established in 2004. The main plant is in Staffordshire, England, and the company employs 180+ people, many of whom are local to the plant. Solidor prides itself on being a green company, using lead-free materials, a shared transport network and comprehensive recycling policies to offset the business’ carbon footprint.

Most composite doors are made in the Far East to far less rigorous standards and are imported. When you buy a Solidor door from Manchester Window Factory, you know you are purchasing a high-quality British product that adheres to British standards of security and ethical manufacturing.
